Diversity In Higher Education 9/16/10

In this Seminar we talked about knowledge and how Howard University was posted in the New York Times Dispatch as having diversity and lots of colleges in it to get us into the real world of success. The article was entiltled Diversity in Higher Education. We learned that knowledge was one thing and wisdom went along with knowledge. Wisdom is essential to education and in order for us to have the right education we need we have to have enough wisdom and enough character. That is all we have to have to succeed. We learned how Dr. Ronald Walters in which he predicted and outlined the challenges our black president, Obama. We came a long way and for Obama to be out president is a sign of wisdom and knowledge that we as black people. We learned that without the motherload of wisdom we experience "dumb-assification". That word describes the being of not knowing and being ignorant to everything. We need to know our inniciative and where we need to be. We need to have goals and reach our goals in order to be something in life so that we can pass on our wisdom to others to see others succeed. Not only were we talking about wisdom, we talked about courage. We learned about the early sit-ins that occured in restaraunts and how black people had alot of courage and how we needed to keep taht courage. We learned about the great plays and things that were happening in DC. We heard about Phylicia Rashad and where she would be performing. Overall we learned about the great people that are our color and I became very inspired and noticed that if all of these people could do things with their lives then so can we because we are using our wisdom and knowledge. We received the book The Tortoise and The Hare to remind us that it doesnt matter who the fastest is, slow and steady always wins the race. We need to take our time and do things, it is always the best when we put alot of effort into it and actually try.
